A US humanoid maker may 10x weekly output by October, Citi says

Citi's China supply-chain check says a leading unnamed US humanoid plant may hit about 1,500 robots a week by October. Three China parts makers are the stock hook. No home cart.

Factory-scale humanoid production is the story. Citi left the US plant unnamed and named China parts suppliers instead.

A bank note, not a factory tour. Citi told clients on Monday, September 21, 2026 that a leading unnamed US humanoid maker may lift weekly output almost ten times, to about 1,500 bodies, by October 2026. The check ran through China parts plants, not a US press room. TrustFinance carried the numbers.

That rate is a sprint, not a year total. Citi then sketches 2,000 to 2,500 a week in early 2027, and as high as 8,000 a week by the end of 2027. The same note still puts 2027 annual output in a 100,000 to 200,000 band. Treat the weekly peaks as a supply-chain rumor about pace. They do not add up to a public order form.

Citi also says the US company may hold one or two product events in the coming months. No venue. No model name.

Three China parts names

The stock hook is upstream, not the robot on the box. Citi flags three Chinese suppliers if that US ramp is real:

  • Hengli Hydraulic: more than roller screws. The bank sees possible orders for linear guides and electric drives. Humanoid parts might be about 1% of Hengli sales in 2026 and about 8% in 2027.
  • Shuanghuan Drive: already tied to the same US customer on electric vehicles, in Citi's telling. The new ask would be high-torque reducers for a waist or hip.
  • Leaderdrive: harmonic reducers. Citi is unsure how much of the unnamed US account it has. It does say Leaderdrive already has orders from Figure AI and Apptronik, plus Chinese robot firms.

Figure 02 is the catalog body behind that Figure AI mention. Apptronik is not in the HomeBotRadar list.

Tesla was in Ningbo the same week

Citi left the US plant unnamed. Separate China reporting the same week did not. TrendForce, citing 21st Century Business Herald and Bloomberg, said a Tesla team reached Ningbo on September 16 and started supplier audits the next day for an Optimus ramp. Those names (Tuopu, Joyson, Sanhua) are Tesla car-parts houses, not the three Citi stocks. The Herald also repeated a ~50,000 Optimus build target for 2026 and a $20,000 unit-cost goal. That is still a target, not a shop price.

Optimus Gen 2 stays Coming Soon on HomeBotRadar. There is no consumer checkout. Musk has talked about selling robots to people as early as late 2027. Factory work comes first.

We are not moving Optimus or Figure 02 scores on a bank note plus a supplier-audit recap. Unitree G1 is still the two-legged kit you can actually order. If the 1,500-a-week figure shows up on an official Tesla or Figure production page, that is when the catalog row changes.
